Kilusang Mayo Uno strongly condemns the United States’ bombing of Iran. The direct aggression by the United States will intensify tensions in the Middle East and drag the people of the entire world into war.
The United States attacked Iran under the pretense of destroying its nuclear weapons. This is nothing but a lie. Iran is not developing nuclear weapons; it is using nuclear technology for civilian power plants.
In fact, the United States possesses the largest arsenal of nuclear weapons in the world and is the only country to have ever used nuclear weapons against another nation. It is hypocritical for Donald Trump to claim that this action is for peace, when it is a brazen display of US imperialist chauvinism.
We are at risk of being dragged into this war, especially with Bongbong Marcos’ continued subservience to the United States.
The United States has the same goal in provoking war in the Middle East and in our own backyard, the West Philippine Sea: to lead the plunder of our natural resources and labor force, to reap massive profits from the sale of weapons, and to strengthen its control over a larger part of the world for its own economic and political interests.
