Workers resist US military intervention 10 days before Labor Day

Kilusang Mayo Uno, together with various democratic sectors, held a protest at Camp Aguinaldo this morning against the intensified military intervention of the United States in the Philippines. This action coincided with the Opening Ceremony of the 40th Balikatan exercises.

In the Philippines and in other countries, the imperialist United States dictates policies that lower wages, perpetuate unemployment and contractual labor, and push for the dismantling of unions and workers’ organizations. The United States does this to amass enormous profits from workers.

This is what the U.S. protects by ensuring its tight grip on the Philippines and the broader Asia-Pacific region through Balikatan exercises, the deployment of war materiel, and the strengthening of its military presence. We will continue to fight against local and foreign capitalists who amass profit at workers’ expense.

We will dare to stand against the intensified U.S. military intervention in the name of profit! We will mobilize with full force against these this upcoming Labor Day!
